Preggo photoshoot

As I’ve been mentioning, my friend…let’s call her Erin, invited me along on a photo shoot of hers and I jumped at the idea. Figuratively of course.

I didn’t know what to expect since I’ve never witnessed a professional shoot before, so it was neat being able to soak in how it all worked, all while biting my tongue with a bazillion questions that I wanted to ask. I kept quiet (for the most part) since she was technically working and I didn’t want to disrupt her.

We “scouted” out the location before the couple arrived, looking for the best backgrounds and lighting.

Props were brought and we played around with them a wee bit before they showed up.

Then the couple arrived and they talked.
em239

They walked
em240

And she went to work snapping away.
em241

Towards the end, I was asked to find a spot with the setting sun that didn’t have high school football players in the background…not an easy task I must say, since they were practicing on the field directly in between us and the sun. But I found a perfect spot! Only problem was it was way far away from them and I had to walk (at my slow pace) back, share the location, and have us 4 walk all the way to it. I asked the sun to hold off setting until we got back, but he wasn’t very nice and I swear started to speed up the setting process just to spite me.
em242

em243

Shoot complete. As they wrapped up the business end, I snapped away to catch what sun was left and was eager to get Erin back in front of the camera before it was completely gone.

Did I forget to mention this was going to be a picture overload? Oops, just so you’re prepared, this is a picture overload. …too late??

I’m thankful for 25

Hello Hello my dear ladies…(and man??)

I’ve gone up and down this silly state I live in the past 2 days and let me tell you..its nice being home. But I would have driven twice as much if it meant getting to see my ‘special certain someone.’ And the majority of you were able to crack the code and figure out that it was G-man I went to see. there’s nothing I can put past you guys. ; )

aaahh the G-man. More on that visit later this week but I’ll give you a hint of how it went, *nice*

I’m thankful for

getting my 1st disability check last week. It was a great surprise when I checked my bank account online. It only made me say, ‘what the crap!’ when I saw it since it was 7 months retroactive pay. woot woot!

my cute and sweet friend letting me tag along with her for her photo shoot. It showed me I still have a lot to learn.
em230

having the chance to spend time with G-man, if even just for a day. It was much needed and loved.

being given the chance to sport some new clothes. It’s definitely given me a boost and all your comments on them have been great, thank you!

getting to hangout and watch old movies with my mom and dad. I love spending time with them, especially since lately each visit produces fresh tomatoes, zucchinis, cucumbers and squash from their garden. mmmmmm I sure do love them…my parents, that is.
this little guy put on a show for me in my parents backyard.

How was your weekend? Did you get to do anything enjoyable or just relax like you were hoping?

Me and 2 pregnant women walked into a bar

Ok, not really.

Happy Friday my fellow awesome people! It’s going to be a GREEEEEAAAAT weekend. Eek! I can’t even tell you how excited I am for tomorrow. I’m seeing a certain someone at a certain place and I can’t wait to tell you all about a certain day spent at a certain location.

Now, I’m sure you’ve all been dying to know how the tootsies are doing, well apparently so is my dr. He texted me yesterday asking how they were doing…yep, my doctor texts me. At his rate, he better. haha Any way, I gave him the cliff notes text version of, ‘they swell less, almost walking normal and the stitches are still in the top and bottom of each scar and in pretty snug.’

To which he replies and I quote: Probably the heat causing the swelling and the nerves quieting down. Let me know when you are down here so I can see you.

I wrote, that I’d let him know and he replied. Thanks!

To you, nothing major with that..to me?? The fact that he didn’t talk about the stitches and that he wants to see me… is speaking volumes to me. The last time we talked about the stitches was 4 weeks ago where he said it would take a few weeks for them to dissolve and fall away. Well they haven’t. They’re still there. So it looks like I’m going to have to make a trip to Los Angeles.

Ugh!

Now in funner news, if you’re following me in twitter (wait what? you aren’t and wanna follow me in twitter..) ok, click here and follow!  then you saw that I wore #5 #6 and #10 yesterday! I loved it. I felt so fun. I even had awesome hair too. (rare since I haven’t cut my hair since March…I know I know…) so I was thrilled that I actually went out into the world.

My sweet and adorable and absolutely hilarious friend, who just so happens to be 37 weeks pregnant, invited me to a maternity photo shoot she did yesterday and I brought my camera…so I’ll be showing those later next week, but let me give you a little sneak peak. It was sooo much fun.
em228

em229

I had such a blast helping her. I can’t wait to show you more next week!! She pretty much gave me the ‘want to shoot people for a living’ bug.

Anyone in my area want to be my free guinea pigs??

Alrighty my friends, have yourselves a merry little weekend, let your hearts be light. (yes, it’s a Christmas song, but it totally applies!)

The box has been broken

My mom will be so blown away by this next statement…Mom, are you ready?

I’ve officially stepped out of my solids dark colors box and bought…wait for it…patterns. *gasp* I’ll give you a moment to collect yourself off the floor.

This might be my one and only post I’ll ever do on fashion because I’m so not a “fashion” person. I’m never in style and know I’ll never be able to keep up with the fashion bloggers and their amazing sense of dress! I have zilch.. And once you go through it all, you’ll probably laugh and say, ‘that wasn’t a fashion post.’

I’m a plain jane, solids wearing kinda gal. If its black, grey, green or most recently lavender (newly added to the pallet), I’ll get it, but hold onto your hats because thanks to some Birthday gift cards from the love, I. went. shopping!!

Take a gander at my new clothes!
em227

1. Is a maxi dress. I’ve been wanting stripes for ages, love that I stepped out and got it in a dress
2. ruffled top
3/5/8 are all camis
4. is an absolutely beautiful jewel toned top
6. more stripes!! A nice casual t-shirt
7. (which is hard to see) is a way out of my comfort zone flowered top. Almost grandma flowers
9. (top right) is a pretty purple flowers top
10. is an awesome full length skirt. I’ve been wanting one for a long time, and
11. is a peacock looking top that has “wings” as I told the girl at the store but it has a belt and I loved it.

Can you tell I’m excited about all these?? I can’t even tell you, I really am!

With these tops, my newly acquired ‘girlyness’ is in full swing since I’ve also been painting my nails, too!

Who IS this girl!?!? I don’t know, but I’m having so much fun being her. Since watching you all do it, I thought I’d join in the fun and show you my recent nail colors.

photo (18)

I have 2 more colors that I can’t wait to use. I think I’ll use one on my fingers and one on my toes for the weekend. Yes sirree bob, I think I will.

Do you all get as excited as I did when you get a bunch of new clothes or get nail polish?

In my meager defense, it’s been more than 6 years since I’ve owned a bottle of nail polish and I haven’t shopped shopped for clothes in, gosh I don’t even know how long.

So help me feel normal and agree that you too get giddy with your new purchases!

Mmmkay, thanks!

Why you’ll never seen an ichthus on my car

you know…the Jesus fish??
(via larryhehn.com)

I had this thing, and it was called road rage. I say “had” because I hardly drive anymore with the feet as they’ve been, but when I was working and had to drive 40 minutes each way you can bet I had the rage inside.

I still have it on certain occasions, and will go berserk screaming, waving my arms and honking the horn, but have you ever witnessed someone road raging? Have you ever seen how ridiculous they look?? Years ago, I saw a man flip out in his car at another and I couldn’t stop thinking how idiotic he looked and swore I would curb my raging. That lasted a whole 12 months, (probably a lot less), before I was screaming, fuming and driving like a maniac around the car that ticked me off.

Sometimes the car did something that someone else did to me the day before that I just blinked at but if I’m in a “mood” you can bet that little thing will be like they just cut me off while giving me the bird with how I’ll react.

Why it’s coming to mind now, is because a lot of people very close to me have it just as bad and it bothers me. Like, really bad. Being in the passenger seat as they drive and tell off other drivers doing nothing, or them being in the passenger seat and getting frustrated over the other drivers…over nothing.

Though I fail still, I’ve really made the effort whenever anyone is in my car to curb my frustrations over other drivers because, seriously! what can I do about it?! It does absolutely no good to have me raging, which only gets the passenger full of anxiety and joining in on the frustration. How is that an example of Christ?!

hence the fact I’ll never have a ‘Jesus fish’ on my car.

I’ve been on the phone with someone a few times while they’re driving and without fail they start flipping out about the drivers around them. And sometimes, I’m in the middle of a sentence when they start their screaming. Its so discouraging since it seems like they were never listening. We’ve talked it over enough and have finally concluded we can’t be on the phone anymore when they’re driving, but it seriously hurts my heart knowing they have it that bad.

Now, that’s them and something they’ve struggled with all their driving life and will have to figure out but as for me, I choose to stop. I can’t stand the raging Emily. She’s ugly. When I was driving into the city to go shopping yesterday I said a prayer for strength to stop. I truly want to be an example to the ones around me, not a self righteous I’m better than you example, but a Christ like example. Learning to accept that people around me don’t drive like I do (even though I wish they did) and enjoying the drive. And so far, I’ve found it’s so much less stressful!

I accept that I’ll fail at my efforts at some point. Some people are just plain incompetent at their driving but from here on out, I make my pledge that every effort will be made to not be that screaming idiot.

Do you tend to rage when you drive?

What are some things you do to keep yourself from raging?

Do you want to pledge with me?

Turn it up, turn it up, turn it up!

Whenever I’m doing a long drive alone there are certain songs that I like to consider my “go to songs” for up beat full on energy. Songs that make me literally bounce up and down singing at the top of my lungs, waving my arms all over the place…while driving. I love them so much that I’ll listen to them 2, 3, 4 times in a row sometimes.

Be prepared for randomness. That’s how I roll when I drive.

Even if you weren’t driving just now for your listening enjoyment hopefully it made you do a little dance at your office or home or where ever you read me. : )

What songs keep you going when you’re driving? Lay them on me. I’m always up for adding more to my list. Anything to keep my energy up, is what I say!

One song in particular holds a bit more meaning for me, so to speak. It’s actually the video that I love like crazy. When G-man and I first got together, he showed this video that some pilots did on an aircraft carrier. Have you seen it?! Well if you haven’t folks, you’re in for a real treat! Anytime I want a little pick-me-up or just feel like smiling I’ll pull this video up and it comes through for me every time. I just think it’s so creative and fun.

Ok, seriously, what did you think?? He’s shown me so many videos of guys on deployment that are hilarious. Some of guys he even knows which has me enjoying them even more. It’s a small, very small, glimpse into his world in the military.

I’m so proud of him and his service. Even more so lately with a major accomplishment that’s taken place. It leaves me grinning from ear to ear to think about it and him and God working in his life.

That man has me crushing over him.

I’m thankful for 24

It happened. No matter how much I wondered if it actually would..I turned 30 over the weekend. Crazy right!? I’ll go into it all some other time, but I just felt I should tell you that it happened.

I hope you all had a wonderful last few days of July. I’m amazed it’s already August. Time, I’ve noticed each year I get older, goes by faster and faster. Remember as a kid, it taking forever?! What is it about being an adult that makes time seem faster??

I’m thankful for..

- a call from my love earlier in the week just to say he loves me. I’ll never pass up one of those calls.

- finding out the date I’ll be getting my very first disability check and also finding it’ll be retroactive for the past 7 months. Praise the Lord for that!

- not having an allergy to dairy, especially cheese. I’ve had nachos and quesadillas every single night for the past week, while home (all I have is cheese in the apt), and I’m pretty sure I’ll never tire of cheese. I feel for all who have a dairy allergy since you’re missing out!

- for a good new drivers license picture. I realize this is shallow, but my last picture I’ve had for the past 9 years was great (even the DMV guy said so) and its nice to know the picture I’ll have for years to come is a passable one.

- my slippers returning back into my possession. Once again where I go, they go. We haven’t been far from each other since their return.

- for all the birthday wishes, and time well spent with my family. And also Facebook. Without Facebook reminding all my ‘friends’ it was my birthday, I wouldn’t have had so many wishes. I admit, I like that feature of Facebook. Sure knows how to make a girl feel special, even if just for a day.

- for being blessed with a newer car with a working A/C. My heart goes out to all who I drive past with their windows down in this heat. I know their misery and am so grateful God allowed me to have the reliable car that I do.

What are you thankful for this week?

This has no relevance to this post, except…my love is in the Navy, he used to fly these (FA-18s), our first official date was to see the Blue Angels, we saw this show <below> while in Hawaii, and I’m missing him more than I can say, so…yeah.
