Mentally prepare your mind

…for a toes picture. This isn’t your, ‘oh look at my cute pedicure and be jealous’ pictures… this is ‘ugh!! look at my crappy “professional” pedicure I paid a lot of money for’ pictures!!

I don’t get it. How hard is a french pedicure…really?

The past 4 pedicures I got were horrible.. and I’m just going to say it.. they were all by white people. I think its safe to say, I will do everything in my power to not see a white manicurist anymore. They just aren’t cutting the mustard.

I even pointed out a mistake to her to fix last night, and she kept asking “where?”, so I got in close, and pointed it out and she said she didn’t see any mistakes.. *_*

It was futile at that point, so I stopped, paid and headed out since I had to rush to my tanning appointment.. yes, I got another spray tan. I’m going to Mexico after all! I can’t be all pasty Casper white! Especially since I don’t plan on baking in the sun.. high skin cancer risk in my family and all.

My tanning lady did a great job. I actually look natural, where all the others would put like the Jamaican tan on me and I’d walk out with an accent. {kidding} but I would be pretty dark.

But yesterday was a crazy day! A crazy day of dumping money. 3 new tires anyone? I wanted to cry. Spending that much money on tires isn’t as fun as say spending it on new clothes, or shoes, or going on a trip! {yes, I realize how superficial that sounds}

Then of course there was my sister. She was in labor all.day.long! that poor thing. I won’t give too much, since she hasn’t really given me the clear, nor is it my story to tell, but she endured intense labor from 2am until they took her for a c-section at 6pm to deliver her sweet baby. And I have to hand it to my amazing sister for enduring the entire labor with no pain medications. She has now set the bar high for me when my time comes.

Yes, I just admitted that. I’m a competitive person, I’ve learned to accept it.

When is it ok to spend?

So you all must think I’m a little crazy..well, maybe not all but the majority of you since my last post. I question if I should share 1/2 the things that go on in my head with you, so usually reduce it to about 1/3 and even then, sometimes it’s too much.

But oh well. As many of you have said, I’m transparent. I say what I say and it may be random, heartfelt, deep, funny or just plain weird, but its me in all my goofiness.

I’ve had a lot of money thoughts lately. Thoughts in the way of wanting to spend a lot. I’ve had the itch for two weeks now, though I’ll admit, its died down considerably. Sense has crept back in and allowed me to function at a normal level again but I still think and question certain amounts of spending.

I put it on twitter and got quite the response, so I’ll put it here to see what you’d do.

If you knew you’d get a phenomenal haircut and color, would you spend $300 for it?

The type of cut and color where you know will be amazing. Where no other stylist you know or go to could ever come close.

This is the debate I’m having right now. I’m seeing my awesome stylist in November for a cut, but saw “Belle” on Once Upon A Time (the show) and absolutely fell in love with her color. It’s a highlight/lowlight color so it would take work and I’m considering having my stylist do it along with the cut. This will most likely cost over $300 but let’s just say it’ll be a solid 3. I’ve already made the appointment for both since its easier to cancel than add but I’m not sure if I can fully take the leap.

I’m back to my sensible spending ways and have a hard time choking down that amount, but in the same I was about to plunk down over 3 times that amount for a camera lens just days ago.

Do you see where I can justify spending the “chump change”? Its still so easy for me to fall back into my old spending ways when I had a ton of money. It runs through my blood, so to speak.

I’m also aware of all the things I’ll be spending a lot of money on that’s coming up. Things that might trump the color, so again, the debate wages on inside.

I like what Angie said, “…There is nothing wrong indulgence as long as you aren't going into debt over it!”

I agree. And its nice being pampered with the assurance I’ll be more than 100% satisfied with the result.

Money…or more like spending, has been on my mind lately and just wanted to see where you stand.

SO, would you spend that? Or could you see yourself spending $300 on something else that was in one sitting?
Or would you absolutely never spend that much money on yourself? Maybe because you don’t think you should? Or aren’t worth it? Or just plain don’t think you ever need to spend that much on yourself period.

A thankful me - 13

Its Aaapppppppppppriiiiiiiiillll!!!!! Can I get an AMEN!!

What was it about March that was just.so.miserable!?!?! I was doing my best, but darn! that was a rough month! Now I can happily wait a whole year before experiencing it again.

Something good that came out of March.


Before I get to the nitty gritty,  I have to get you guys to look at something. My friend’s friend’s kid (still with me?) had her first birthday and my friend’s pictures are up on her blog. I thought they were great until I scrolled to the last and about lost myself. Maybe its just me, but darn if I didn’t see it coming. Clever I say…oh so clever.

So about that thanks. I’m thankful for a butt load. yeah, seriously said a butt load…

- 1 1/2 year old chocolate. Its been a serious lifesaver these past few weeks, gnawing on these things every night. Although word to the wise…snickers..not so good over time.

- controlling flyaway and snapped hair by stopping the towel rubbing and brushing of the wet hair. I’ve heard this before, but never cared until I couldn’t take the flyaways and viola! my hair has been tame and even has a nice wave to it. {the vlog I did was air dried no combed hair…you’re welcome}
- LeAnna telling me that if I buy and read a book within 7 days on Amazon, I can return it for a full refund. Ummm, thank you Hunger Games for free!
- Erin always always helping me out with my editing in PSE9. That stuff is tough, guys!! And good ol’ Erin is ALWAYS to my rescue with step by step tips, advice and CC (constructive criticism).
- making a profit off an ex-con. Oh yes I did!! Money exchanged hands and it never felt so good….{because of the profit.} Stay with me here!
- selling my pull up bar off of Craigslist to a couple where the guy just got out of prison. (don’t know what you guys were thinking a second ago…I ain’t no dirty cop!)
- baby E being released from the hospital. He has some therapy to do but is doing and looking really good!
- the “safety” of my guns. …more on that later this week.

I’m thankful for 27

Good day everyone! Can we all realize that August is fast coming to an end and I’m not sure that it didn’t just start?! Craziness. School is starting back up this week for some and all I hear is madness going on with everyone getting back to their normal scheduled. And by everyone, I mean those with kiddies and you teachers out there.

There’s absolutely zero madness going on around me. How about you? Is madness abounding??

So this week, I’m making up for my lack of thanks from last and found tons. Crazy when I actually focus on it throughout the week and make it a point to remember.

I’m thankful for

- calling the billing department for a doctor’s bill to inquire about 2 bills and having her, without even asking, take 20% off the largest bill. Apparently they do that, just cause and if you don’t call, you won’t get it. (note to self, always call before paying from here on out!)

- dear sweet Katie who told me through twitter that sometimes hospitals will write off your entire bill if you call and explain ‘your situation’ and sometimes they’ll do it without you even explaining! (note to self, always always call to ‘explain my situation’ to reduce ridiculous medical bills)

- driving safely to everywhere I needed to go, and the generosity of my friend letting me stay at her place for the night.

- getting a good report from the doc and his stopping me from working out (that I planned on doing this week). Instead he’s ordered me to physical therapy for 6 weeks and strict “only walking” exercise.

- being able to walk. I started today around the track..and I admit, I walked up the bleachers too. (can’t help it) but the Dr. wants me in high heels. Yep, you heard correctly! He wants me to wear heels again (crazy, I know…it’s been 10 years) so if you happen to be following me on pinterest, you’ll notice my ‘per doctors orders’ board. hehe

- my sweet friend that you’ve seen with the adorable pregnant belly, had her beautiful baby girl.

- you all for your sweet words last week. Thank you!

- impromptu wine with my neighbor on her balcony, this weekend. It was a great evening chatting and staring at the stars.

- having the energy to scrub down my entire apartment the day after my migraine. And I mean a thorough scrub down. It’s so nice being in a super clean home and I still have no idea where it came from.

- I told you I had a lot this week! I hope you all were able to find things to be thankful for too and had yourselves a great weekend. Oh and by the way, here’s my ‘new hair’ read: darker.

Have you ever

Today is going to be the start of a very very crazy week..it has a little something to do with these little guys…

Have you ever driven down the road, spotted a dollar bill on the side, flipped a U to go back to get it, and as you picked it up see it’s actually a hundred dollar bill?
- Yes, I was so excited. And yes, I went back thinking it was a dollar. Wouldn’t you?!

Have you ever been walking down the street and looked over in the grass and spotted 2 20 dollar bills just lying there, crumpled up?
- Yes, Promise it wasn’t someone’s yard. I was in Honolulu, walking past a high rise condo at a busy intersection. I split them with G-man.

Have you ever been in the middle of playing baseball with your family and see something green against the fence, walk over and see it’s a ten dollar bill?
- Yes, I was 8…it was the start of my findings. My Dad didn’t believe me until he came over to see for himself. My brothers and sister were upset they didn’t see it first. little sis one upping the siblings…Score!

Have you ever been lounging out at the pool and as you get up to leave, see a grown man completely naked jumping into the pool, then getting out and sitting naked on the edge?
- Yes, Horrified much? As G-man walked over to tell him to get dressed, he jumped back in and put his shorts on. Not exactly what I expected to see that day.

Have you ever seen this giraffe?
- Yes, At the Santa Barbara Zoo. Don’t know her story, but clearly broke her neck at some point. Ick!
