30 in 30 part deux

Remember the ridiculous wisdom I bestowed upon you last week? Things that I have no doubt you never knew or imagined and were eternally grateful to me for telling you??
em74same picture..going for a theme here…

I have more!

Technically I have every intention of spouting off 30 bits of wisdom {collectively} that I myself have gathered over the years, but I literally have stopped just shy of 30… read: 16

If you have any wisdom that you’d like to share, feel free to share in the comments and I’d be more than happy to take it and declare it as my own.

Alrighty then, to continue

~ no matter what your most embarrassing moment in life is, you will always have another that will surpass it’s embarrassment level.

~ you should always sign up for your favorite store’s emails so they can send you free stuff on your birthday

~ as the years go by, your body will slowly begin to reject your favorite foods leaving you wondering if your world is coming to an end. You will put your favorite food in your mouth and the saliva alone will make your stomach rumble in unhappiness.

~ once your body revolts, you’ll be forced to find all new and healthy things to eat and realize you’re much happier when you do.

~ when you find delicious recipes, its imperative you share it with the world.
Grilled Lemon Rosemary Chicken by Jamie Dean. Its an absolute keeper in my book. I served it over rice and of course, my broccoli. Oh and its incredibly easy!

~ working out will become essential to maintain your weight and with each year, you’ll need to workout more and more because what you used to do won’t be enough to maintain as it did before.

~ its been proven by me, in the state of California, the highway patrol have a 15 miles over “rule”. If you keep your speed right under 15 miles over the speed limit, you will not get pulled over. Example: 55mph. Keep it at 69. 65mph. Keep it at 79… simple, right? The moment you go over. You will be pulled over. I got pulled over for going 81 in a 65.
(he even showed me the radar gun in his car) and he even told me over 80, he gets.

I’ve encountered many a wife of a cop who have disputed my 15 miles over rule because.. “their husbands don’t do that.” And I heartily disagree because they don’t see when their husbands are passing me as I’m going 68 in a 55 flashing their hands in the “five” “five” motion (telling me its 55), and they don’t see them flash their lights at me as they go by as a warning…and on the 1 rare occasion I did get pulled over for going 70 in a 55, the cop and I struck up a conversation only to have him end with, ‘I’m not going to give you a ticket. You were only going 70.’

So the theory has been proven time and time again. Most recently yesterday on my way to work, as I was flashed the “five” “five” hand sign as he passed me going 68.

As most may know, I do have plenty of ‘research’ in this matter of getting pulled over as I have had around….10 speeding tickets and maybe 18 pull overs but since implementing this method, I haven’t been pulled over in over 3 years. That’s a big deal.

Who can top my amount of pull overs? Surely one of you has a higher number…surely.

Oh and don’t forget, your wisdom will become my wisdom, so share the love. :)

Haha, you are hilarious! I always thought it 3 over the speed limit? Maybe only in California? Who knows. I have no wisdom for you.... but only that if you go to Texas don't eat at a house that has the word restaurant painted on the top.

The rule about having to work out even more as we get older... I struggling with that right now. Once you creep on 30 it starts to get real obvious. A quick 30 minute run doesn't cut it anymore!

Haha, your blog is so much fun to read. I love the speeding rule, its so true though! It's like that here in FL, too..people drive so crazy fast that cops don't bother to pull anyone over unless they're going 80-90. And agreed about the bday coupons, I love seeing my inbox on the first of May, so many coupons to use!

Before moving to "Smalltown, USA," I had never even been pulled over. Since moving however, I have been pulled over twice. Once for going 40 in a 35, & once for doing a "California roll." Still no tickets, though (knock on wood)!

However, the California roll incident leads to my favorite cop story in the history of, ever... I was coming home from a late night shopping trip, when I approached the stop sign around the corner from my house. Since Jude had fallen asleep in his car seat, I was anxious to get him home & into bed. Anyways, as I approached the stop sign, I proceeded to do my best imitation of a complete stop (read: California roll), & was immediately rewarded with the flashing lights of a cop car who was hiding around the corner. Since I was just down the street from my house, I pulled over in my driveway & proceeded to exit my vehicle to avoid waking up my kid, & to plead for mercy from the vigilant officer. The officer, however, did not take kindly to my plan & he shouted at me to get back in my car & place my hands on the steering wheel. He then approached my rolled down window & asked with obvious incredulity, "Geez, lady, don't you ever watch, "COPS?!!"

So, I guess my words of wisdom would be, don't EVER do a California roll in Smalltown, USA! You're welcome. :)

your 55 theory is so true. there is a very fine line & i'm sure it will be denied through and through.
great wisdom!

Are you in Northern or Southern California?

I can tell you that I have gotten the "5-5" hand gesture many a time. I have also gotten the "slow down" mouthed at my by motorcycle cops. However, I have been pulled over twice, once for a red light violation and once for speeding, and both times I got a ticket. No warning. No, next time I will give you a ticket. I think I need to learn how to bat my eyelashes or something:)

I would have to agree about the Small Town, USA story above - we can't get away with near the amount as when we've lived in Cali or Vegas! And if you DO happen to get pulled over? Then you might as well expect the entire police force with their lights on to surround you. Ok, atleast 2-3 cars... But, we did have a drunk driver that got pulled over in front of our house about a year ago and I swear there was 11 police cars with lights and sirens going in the middle of the night and surrounding our entire corner lot!! CRAZY!! That would be the best time to rob a bank or gas station around here I suppose (if one were inclined to do such a thing) Would that last tidbit of info be considered wisdom? ;)

That is A LOT of pull overs!! And please don't tell me that my body will start to reject cheese, pizza, and anything fried. I will cry.

My Dad's cousin is a cop and once told me that they use the rule, "9 you're fine...10 you're mine." I've always remembered it and lived by that rule and it's always worked!

Stopping by for the first time! hope you don't mind if I stick around :) Fun blog!

Blessings,
Amanda

My wisdom: Go the speed limit. :)

I've never been pulled over for speeding. After having kids you just don't drive like you did before. Or maybe it's my Hubby...he's all about babying his vehicles. I never floor it anymore. Basically, I'm very unexciting...and ticket free. ;)

I want some broccoli now. Thanks.

LOL on having to work out more the older you get.... yeah. I should totally drop my daily wine consumption to reduce those calories but then I will lose my sanity!!

Love the speeding tip -- doesn't hold up in NJ and NY, though. Although my record for not getting pulled over is pretty good so I'm probably just a super wimpy driver :)

Happy hump day my dear!!
