Typical Emily trip

In typical fashion, today was the day I was supposed to fly back home, thus ending my stay here in Hawaii.

Who wants to guess what happened instead?

If you guessed that once again, we changed my flight to keep me here for a few more days, then you’re correct!!! It wouldn’t be a typical trip for me if we didn’t push my flight back a few more days.

::for the record, I did not cry, whine, pout or grow depressed to make this happen. unlike last time
My plans simply got canceled back home, allowing me to stay::

So, here I sit, relaxing with a few more days left to go. And I’ll be honest, I’m going to be leaving here just as white as I was, when I came. I’ve donned my bathing suit once and it stayed under my clothes the whole time. I’m kind of done with laying out and getting tan. Skin cancer is way to high in my family to keep risking it like I’ve done in the past.

This leaves the door wide open for me to eat eat eat…why bother if I’m never going to wear my bathing suit, right?? –right!

Wednesday, my friend took me to my now favorite crepe place ever, Crepes No Ka 'Oi! Hands down, the best crepes I’ve ever eaten.

My friend’s a regular there and as soon as we walked in, the owner said to her, ‘hey, you haven’t been here in awhile!’ I love going to places where they take notice like that.

We started out with a savory crepe. I seriously never knew there were such things as savory crepes. When G-man and I were in Paris last year, all I saw were sweet crepes being made everywhere and had no idea savories could be created, but oooohh can they be created here!

I was too eager to think of a picture before cutting it in half for us to share, but we got the Godfather Crepe that has tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella inside. A caprese salad inside, if you will and it was absolutely delicious. I could have eaten the whole thing, if I could.

Then for our dessert crepes, I got the s’mores crepe and as you can see I was already diving into it when she quickly reminded me that I wanted to take a picture of it. oops

She got the Banane au Nutella crepe with granola added on top.

Its her absolute favorite…if you couldn’t tell.

They have so many to choose from and once I told G-man about this place and showed him these pictures, his face lit up and declared that we had to go there this week. Trust me when I say, I will not complain.

If you ever come to Oahu, you must must must check out Crepes No Ka ‘Oi in Kailua. Its right across the street from a dingy bowling alley. (I’m all about giving landmarks to help find it)

I hope everyone continues to enjoy this Christmas season this weekend. We had plans to go see the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony here in town, but just yesterday someone broke into the electrical box and stole the copper wire worth $21,000. who does that?! Seriously! So now they have to postpone the lighting ceremony. People are so weird.

**update: the lighting ceremony is back on as scheduled!!

Merry Christmas!!!

no money exchanged hands for this post…I just love this place too much and wanted to say so. They have no idea I raved about them.

Pin It Now!

Holy delicious crepes! I love them. Love them! LOVE THEM! Ok. I love them.
Growing up we alway ate them as a desert, however a while back I started putting eggs and avocados, and feta with tomatoes in them. SO GOOD! I'm craving them now!
Yay for a few more days with your man! Have fun :-)

I love crepes and just like you...the ones in Paris are absolutely amazing! It didn't matter it was from a street vendor or in a quaint cafe, just amazing and melts in your mouth!

phew... glad the lighting ceremony is still on! that is crazy. people are evil.

i like how you think. good food, no skin cancer and no worries of being self-conscious in a swimsuit. i oughta try that.

enjoy your extra time!

Um, a s'mores crepe? Yum! Oh, and I agree with the skin cancer thing. I am totally fine with being white and pasty at all times. I lay out to relax....slathered in sunscreen.
